Your HEADSHOT is your first impression!
Proper headshots are up close and personal! They are generally framed from your mid chest to top of the head. Occasionally they can be waist up. They are meant to be your 1st and lasting impression for auditions, interviews, social networks, business, networking events, and so much more. The reason that a proper headshot is so close is because the images need to clearly portray who you are when scaled down example: thumbnail profile pictures on social media, or small printed images in a playbill.
Here is a general breakdown of different types of headshots
Actors Headshots – Theatrical or Cinematic
Model headshots – Fashion + Moody or Commercial + Smiley
Business Professionals – Warm + Friendly or Bold + Serious
